Jennifer & Dillon Engagement | Lake Norman

I met Jennifer & Dillon about a year ago. I quickly learned that not only are they gorgeous, but so in love & have the cutest pup too!

They are getting married at the Peninsular Yacht Club in Cornelius, a venue which I’m very familiar with as I live only a few miles away.

The Peninsula Yacht Club sits right on Lake Norman and is the perfect lakeside wedding venue.

I cannot believe it is already their wedding day. Jennifer will make the most beautiful bride, I just know it!

Definitely make sure to follow us through out the day on our IG - hohweddingphotography and stalk their LKN wedding.

Oh and throw up a few good thoughts about no rain!

Happy wedding day Jennifer & Dillon, I can’t wait to see you both in just a few hours!!

Brittany's Separk Mansion Bridal Session

Do you know what a bridal session is? Is it necessary? Would you want one? These are all questions that run through brides minds as they research wedding photography packages. A bridal session is with HOH is usually 60-90 minutes, often at the wedding venue, and is the perfect opportunity to photograph the bride in her wedding dress before the wedding day. Often times a large framed wall portrait or canvas of the bride is displayed on an easel at the wedding. Not only is it a southern tradition but it is a great opportunity for brides to do a hair and makeup trial. I also suggest that brides have their florist make a duplicate bouquet to use during the session. It’s the perfect time to see how your wedding day look comes together, and make any adjustments if you aren’t happy with jewelry, hair, makeup or even the flowers. More than anything, take a moment to breathe and relish the bridal feeling through the crazy wedding planning process.

Brittany met me at her wedding venue which is Separk Mansion in Gastonia. I always love photographing at Separk mansion but it is such a treat to be in the wedding venue when it is empty and full of morning light.

The florist is Pink Petunia located in Charlotte and made such a stunning bridal bouquet for us to use. The flowers were the perfect shades of blush, cream and just the right amount of greenery.

Brittany’s dress fit her like a glove and came from couture Bridal Store in the Ballantyne area and was altered by Jablonska Inc.

My two favorite locations at Separk Mansion are the amazing dramatic staircase and the checkered room as I refer to it. Both are such iconic bridal portrait locations, which would be very crowded on the actual wedding day.

The venue is known for the southern, romantic charm and has amazing but dramatic lighting.

A big thanks to the bride’s sister and maid of honor for helping throw up her veil. Love these last few images in front of the mansion.

Six Inexpensive Wedding Favors

Often times I get to collaborate with different people in the wedding industry. Recently the guys from https://foreverweddingfavors.com sent over some new products to share with you all. There are some super cute and very reasonably priced wedding favors. Take a look and let us know which are your favorites!

The salt and pepper favors may have been my favorite and would be perfect for your head table on wedding day.

I love wine so anything that I can use while enjoying a glass of Cab Sav is also a win in my book.

I’m not a beer drinker but this little opener was adorable.

I get asked all the time about magnets to send with save the dates and these two options seem like great alternatives to the pricey picture magnets.

Sunflower Couples Session | Kristy & Tristan

A little late on this one but wanted to share this sweet couple’s sunflower session from July. They braved the early morning hours for the best lighting and perky sunflowers. We nailed it and I couldn’t ask for much more.

Most recently, they even got a puppy together, a baby Yorkie named Archie. Stay tuned for some sweet puppy pics!

Jenifer & Dylan Say I Do | St Gabriel's Church Wedding | Terrace at Cedar Hill Wedding | Charlotte, NC

Jnnifer & Dylan had a beautiful wedding day from start to finish. They had a classic Catholic wedding ceremony at St. Gabriel’s church and an energetic, fun reception at the Terrace at Cedar Hill in Charlotte.

HOH arrived to start our day at the Residence Inn uptown Charlotte. Details are definitely one of my favorite parts of the wedding day. So much work goes into planning every last detail of the wedding day, so I want my couples to have portraits of their details to look back on and remember forever.

The hustle and bustle of wedding day can be super overwhelming, so another favorite moment of mine is putting on the dress. I usually have the bridesmaids clear out of the room to give us space, plus it gives the bride a quiet moment with her mom and sisters.

I haven’t had a whole lot of First Looks this season so when I get one, I get a little giddy inside. Jenifer & Dylan’s did not disappoint.

Doing a First Look before the ceremony allows us more time to do formal portraits before the ceremony so that the bride & groom can have more fun at the reception.

First Looks aren’t just for bride and grooms, often times we set up a First Look between the bride and her dad as well.

The Catholic ceremony was beautiful and serene. I love all the rituals and traditions involved with a church wedding.

Jenifer & Dylan’s reception venue used to be called Roof with a View and we have photographed there many times but now it is the new and improved Terrace at Cedar Hill. This venue has the most amazing city views yet has the added benefit of a private parking lot.

The ceremony was beautiful, the party was all the rage and their exit was just as exiting. Thanks for letting HOH be a part of your wedding day Jenifer & Dylan!
